Christmas Fairy Wishes - art journaling

Merry Christmas!

A little late with my blog post, I realise, but I totally blame the beast that did not want to cook on Christmas Day!

Just a quick note to wish you all a wonderful festive time! I want to thank all who took time to visit my blog and leave me comments, I appreciate your support! I also want to thank you for inspiring me with your crafty makes, you are all so talented and inventive! You never seize to amaze me!
I would also like to say that I feel blessed as I have found many wonderful friends through blogging and I look forward to making more in 2015!

I have many wonderful things happening in 2015, have plans to bring you some more exciting arts and crafts and a wish to inspire more of you to be creative!

Today, I would like to share my art journaling with you. It is a hand-drawn whimsical Christmas Fairy wishing nothing by 'Peace on the Earth, for Love from one to another, wealth to the poor, health to the sick, compassion for the sinners and food and home for the less fortunate...'

The drawing is a combination of Big brush pens, Aquarelle pencils, both by Faber-Castell, stickles, Micron pens, my white Posca pen, some white acrylic paint, Cosmic Shimmer white pearl PVA glue for 'snow'... and my own imagination! :)

Wow! Embossing Powders - Day 2

Hi there!
Believe it or not I am back! Yesterday I showed you what I got up to at the weekend (you can find the post HERE). You didn't get to see the whole lot of crafty goodness I got to play with so I am back today to show you more and do hope you like it...

I made a fun artsy card using my Brushos (I adore the stuff!). The front panel was stamped with my background Hero Arts Clock stamp and heat embossed using the gorgeous Metallic Copper EP. The inside of the clocks was bleached for contrast and the edges sponged using the Walnut Stain Distress ink...

 The finished card after bleaching...

For the love of Wow!

Hey lovelies!

Big welcome to my new lovely followers! Thank you for joining me here!

How are you all doing? I've been watching your gorgeous creations popping up in my blogger feed and been wanting to explore more! You're such a talented bunch!

I have something for you too today! It is quite late in a day, I realise, but I had so much fun over the weekend there's a lot to show you. Before I do I would like to say a BIG Thank You to Tania from Wow! Embossing Powders for the wonderful Happy Mail that she sent me. I am very grateful for your generous gift! xxx

If you have followed my blog for a while you will know that Wow! EPs play a big role in my crafting and are my most frequent choices. I was trying to find a really nice golden EP and Tania offered to send me some for me to try. Not only that she send me a whole bunch of gorgeous shades of golden EPs but also added some others from their wonderful selection of regular powders. There are so many brands and so many types of EPs it can sometime be overwhelming when it comes to choosing just that ONE! I would like to make it easy for you so I will simply show you what Wow! offers and how it cam be used. I decided to break it up into a few posts over a few days and I hope you will enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoyed creating with these powders.

The selection...

GD for Country View Challenges: 'Nostalgic Christmas'

Thank you for visiting! I'd like to welcome you today to enjoy reading a little bit about the process of making my vintage Christmas wall hanging that I am sharing over at the Country View Challenges website as a Guest Designer.

If you read my guest post you know that I promised to reveal three tips on how to create these branches, how to make a custom coloured seal like the one here (or anything else you desire) and how to add a touch of subtle sparkle to your grungy distressed background. I shall tell tell so read on...

Speed Craft Challenge #8: Butterflies

Hi there!

How's everyone? I just want to say... I have seen your gorgeous projects, they are ALL amazing, you are such a talented bunch! I just haven't been able to find time to comment. I will be more free this weekend so I will be in touch then! Sorry I've been a bit quiet! I would also like to welcome my newest blog buddies, thank you for joining me here!

Thank you for stopping by today! There's a new challenge starting on our Speed Craft Challenge Blog and our lovely Laine has chosen a sweet theme, my favourite:

Excited? I was! Here's what I prepared...

The phone is letting the card down! I will take a new one on Saturday when I have a better light and my next task is to get a light box or make one at the very least! This winter darkness is unbearable... now I work from am to pm I don't actually get to see the light of the day..

The card base and the panel are very simple, a white cardstock cut to size...
I stamped my Jumbo butterfly (Stampendous), cut it out (this took ages, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack when I got to the anthenas!!), anyway, wiped the sweat off , piled on the poor sod some Light Modeling Paste by Liquitex (love this stuff!), sprinkled some frantage (Stampendous, blue), heated, sprinkled some more on the card front and heated... stamped onto a left over white card strip (tim holtz - notice the lower case letters  *wink, wink*), made holes for the brads, adhered it all togehter... a voila! Done! I forgot to take a pic of my timer again!! Sorry, the timer was showing 14:53 mins (it was a squeeze! My butterfly had to finish drying too, but it was done as far as I was concerned...)

Well, your turn! Show us what you've got! That's what I call a challenge! Have a go... hop over to our blog (click on the badge)...

Thank you for stopping by! Big bear hugs to you all!

Eclectic Ellapu challenge: 'Vintage Christmas'

I hope you are well? I enjoyed my first week at my new job and had a full-on weekend! Each day was a bit crazy. Monday was my first day, Tuesday was rather interesting, Wednesday night was spent at a local a&e with Chloe after she bashed her head, Thursday was ok, but busy and I woke up with a big cold sore on my lip probably because of the stress on Wednesday. I went to the Hobby & Craft, Art  & Christmas show in London on Saturday, had the pleasure of meeting Leona from GlitCraft at the show, bought heaps of stuff there (can't wait to play with it all) and enjoyed my Sunday with the family visiting the local Winter Wonderland event. The kids enjoyed the rides, we had some lovely food and mulled wine form the stalls... very, very busy week!

It is 1st December! Goodness! Christmas is coming! Talking about Christmas and 1st December ... today is a very special day! A brand new challenge is starting over at the Eclectic Ellapu challenge blog where  my lovely teamies and I share our creations for this month's challenge. I am very excited and honoured to be a part of this fun! I hope you can play along with our challenge:

My wonky Christmas tree

I'm back with the second card, as promised! My first one is HERE, in case you missed it...

Just like the first one, this card was made with a border stamp from the same Recollections stamp set. This time I used Pear Tart, Teal Zeal and New Sprout Memento inks to create my Christmas tree. I added some Diamond Stickles to it as well as to the edges.... one never has enough sparkle on a Christmas card and besides, this stickles stuff is very addictive... I can barely stop once I've started :)

Challenges entered:
Craft Stamper Magazine - Take It, Make It: November (use non-christmas stamps to create a christmas card)
Try It on Tuesdays - Christmas is coming
"Less is more" - Jingle all the way (anything Christmasy)

Thank you for visting! I will be back with something fun hopefully soon! Can't wait to read your comments! I appreciate every single one of them!

Big hugs,

Ingrid xxx

Clever masking

Hi, lovely people!

I'd like to thank you for all your sweet comments recently! It is not easy to adjust to a full-time job, leaving the babies at home, but coming home to such sweet comments makes things so much better :) I will be visiting shortly myself... before I do though I have two last minute cards that I've been wanting to show you since the weekend, but couldn't. Why, you ask... it's so dark when I get up and I come home in a dark again... I simply cannot seem to take a decent photo! Time to get or make a light box! Well, I took pics this morning, they are not as light and bright as I'd like, but they will give you an idea of what the cards look like... I say CARDS, because I have two to show you. I promised, right?! ;) I will do it separate posts though so I can enter them into a challenge I made them for...

These cards were made with the Craft Stamper Challenge in mind. The design was created using a border stamp by Recollections and my Memento Inks. Let me tell you a little bit about my card no 1...

Joy the world...

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend? What a freezing cold day it was today here in London! I'm taking my winter puffy fluffy parka tomorrow morning! It was my first day in my new job today and it was a great day! All colleagues are lovely and after sitting two fun test required by the agency I had some fun getting to know their systems... more to be done tomorrow! I missed the blogland though because my blackberry is on the way out and no longer displays pictures, doesn't lock and getting online is always accompanied by a prayer followed by a massive fail! I'm definitely getting an iphone soon! I will then be able to keep in touch with you all more once I have one... for now, I will be probably a bit quiet during my days and will be catching up later at night. Please bare with me!

Today I have a quick post for you where I'd like to share a wintery card which I made the other day...

My Whimsical Christmas Girl

How are you all doing? What a day I've had today!!! Absolutely crazy, but good crazy! Very good! :)

I have been dying to join Susi's challenge for some time and when I found out about Valerie's choice of a theme I thought I'd have a go.... this time i decided to share! Crafty Catz Challenge: Anything Goes

Hello and Happy Halloweeeeeeen! Mwaahaahaaaa!

It's Friday again! Where does the time go?!

This week's challenge over at the Crafty Catz is 'Anything Goes' and was chosen by our sweet Carol, the best boss lady ever :) It is Halloween and I know I should have made something fitting, but I am somehow in a Christmas mood and for me making Christmas cards is a sweet reminder that Crimbo is just around the corner! I can't wait! Before I show you what I made for this challenge I would like to mention that we have TWO sponsors this week:

My Dragonfly art CASEd by Janine

Hi there!

I have something special for you today! I was recently contacted by a lovely lady called Janine! She happened to see my 'Dragonfly' artwork on Marjie Kemper's lovely website and decided to CASE it. Well, Janine contacted me to show me her masterpiece and I was absolutely amazed by her wonderful work...

How amazing is this?! Just to remind you, here's my piece...

Janine even used my technique where you mix a clear embossing powder with gesso to create a paste that you that heat up until it bubbles a little. Once you've added some inks or other water based colour to your project the embossed parts will act as a resist and create additional texture. Those white embossed bubbled areas almost highlight the raised parts... hard to explain,.. just give it a go! Try it for yourself! You can see my original post HERE

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Janine for showing me her amazing artwork/card and want her to know that I feel very flattered and honoured that she has taken the time and made an effort to CASE one of my creations! Thank you, Janine!

Boo! ...tag using my new Cling Film Emboss technique...

Hi there! Me again! :)

Have you had a chance to play yet? No?! Need more inspiration? Well, as promised earlier on today here's the Halloween tag where I used my newly found technique that I simply call 'Cling Film Emboss'.. catchy, I know, but I couldn't think of anything fancier :)

Once I heat embossed the pattern created using my cling film and the Distress Embossing powder (Rust) I added some more Distress Inks, sponging, splatters and some stamping using Tim Holtz Stamps...

TECHNIQUE ALERT!!! - Cling film emboss

I'm very excited to share a new technique with you! I came up with it yesterday when I was showing my dear Mum something whilst crafting. I got the idea and had to try it right away and to my delight... it worked! And it worked beautifully! It is soooo simple and effective you will really enjoy this one!

I'm going to show you a couple of backgrounds and the finished cards first and then I will talk you through the process...

There's a new challenge at the Crafty Catz challenge blog today and the theme is 'Thank you!' and was chosen by our lovely Anna. How lovely! Recovery Mode

I'd like to thank you all for leaving sweet comments on my recent spooky creation and regarding my operation. It's so nice to hear from you. I appreciate you taking time to leave a comment. x

I had an operation on my throat on Monday which went well. I had my tonsils removed, but the surgeon found a cyst next to one of the tonsils and decided to remove it during the procedure. They sent it off for testing to see if it is not cancerous. I will have some news within the next 6 - 8 weeks.... hopefully a good one!

I'm currently in a recovery mode at home. My Mum is here looking after the girls. I am in a lot of pain so have to take some seriously strong painkillers. My throat looks like hell and I find it hard to eat and drink anything and the pain killers make this possible. However these pills make me feel very dizzy and sleepy meaning I haven't been able to create or visit your blogs very much.

Please bear with me for the meantime. Hopefully the antibiotics will help to clear my throat soon and the pain will ease so that I don't have to take the painkillers and get out of the zombie mode. :) I can barely see the screen as I type..

Bewaaaare!!! Poison!

Good morning!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend? Mine started rather unusually and everything hurts right now! I have a muscle ache all over...! I consider myself quite an intelligent person, but sometimes I do really stupid things and my Friday shopping escapade was one of them. To elaborate...

Greg was going to help out a friend down in the country on Saturday so wasn't able to do our weekly shop by car. So I thought.. We need some milk anyway I'll take the suitcase and put my weekly shop in there.. I've done our weekly shop before putting it all in a pushchair. Silly, but when our car stopped working that was the only way in order to avoid trotting all the way to the shop with the kids three times a week! No way! This suitcase is one of those soft on top but has wheels. So anyway, I put it on the bottom of my deep trolley, start packing my full bags into it at the till, go outside and then attempt to remove about 30kg bag out of the deep trolley!!!

Featured by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer: Stencil Techniques

Balzer Designs

I hope you are having a good week? Mine's been a bit crazy so far, but very good indeed! My Mum arrived on Saturday, Chloe' is back to her energetic cheeky loud self and I have a super-exciting post for you today! Ha!

Firstly, I'd like to welcome my new blog buddies! So great that you joined me here! :) I hope you will enjoy my posts...

I have a slightly different post for you today. It is very special for me and I hope you will find some time to explore what I'm about to show you. I'd like to invite you to visit the Balzer Designs blog today, because what you will find there is my guest blog post! That's right!! It was my dear friend Donna who made me aware of Julie being curious about our favourite stenciling techniques. I left a comment on Julie's post and emailed her about my love for stenciling with oil pastels, stamping over stencils and creating fun backgrounds by removing colour knowing Julie wanted to start guest series about the subject. It was the most wonderful when Julie replied saying she loved the ideas and would like to feature them on her blog! Thank you, Julie! It is very much appreciated! I feel very honoured! xx

Featured by Marjie Kemper

I have a very special post for you today!

I've known about the lovely Marjie Kemper for some time, but me being a newbie I didn't realise how much this talented artist and a teacher has to offer. It was a few weeks ago when I actually left a comment on her website and found myself in awe when an email from Marjie arrived asking if she could feature my 'Dragonfly' artwork on her fantastic series called 'Tuesday's Texture'! I cannot tell you how honoured I am today to be featured on her website. Thank you, Marjie, it means a lot!

Whimsical flower card - brusho bleaching technique...

I can't believe it is already Thursday! Where does the time go?! I've had a busy few days as I have been working on a project that I can't publish. Doesn't it suck? i know... I really want to show you my altered birdhouse as I think it is a real cutie, but it's going to have to wait... I do however have a card to show you today so that's good, right? Before I go ahead and start rambling about how it was made I'd like to welcome my fabulous new blog buddies! What a gorgeous and talented bunch you are! I feel blessed to have you close by and will be exploring your blogs asap! Thank you for joining me on my crafty journey!

Today's card is quite special! It is not what I made, but who for... I recently sent a few crafty items to my dear crafty friend Donna and included this card. She just received it so I can show you now...

Mixed media card with Brusho

Just a quick post as I have two hungry birdies to feed soon :)

I'd like to welcome my new blog buddies, it's so nice to have you here! Thank you for joining me on my creative ride :)

I have just seen this fabulous sketch on the STAMPlorations website and just couldn't resist making a big mess. This was supposed to be a CAS card, but somehow I got carried away and just couldn't stop playing once I've seen my orange toned messy brusho background (used - lemon, orange, scarlet, brilliant red). I dried and left it.

Butterfly card with brusho & something special...

Today is a special day for me as today is all about my family. Not only that today was my due date last year (yes, my little one will be 1 this month! No, she did not make an appearance on that day...), but also today would have been my dear angel Grandma's birthday so I will be lighting a candle in her memory today. I miss her dearly, she was an angel on earth and now is an angel in Heavens.
I would also like to mention one more, very important person in my life and that is my dear Mum! And as we are having such a nice round up here I'd like to show you how beautifully talented my Mummy is. She loves crafting with Pergamano and makes the most amazing projects. From cards, to envelopes and tiny gift boxes... they are just amazing. Yesterday she sent me a bunch of photos taken with her phone and I asked if I could share them. The photos are not great but they will give you a good idea of what she does... so here they are, the tiny gift boxes she just made...

TECHNIQUE ALERT: Crinkle Transfer Technique

I'd like to welcome my lovely and very talented new blog buddies. It's great to have you here.

I will be on a holiday from Monday for a week so this is most likely my last post. I don't think I will have an online access during my holiday. I couldn't possibly leave without leaving a little something for you to get inspired by.. I have come up with a new fun technique that is super-easy and super-fun so you can play whilst I'm away ;)

I think the hardest part was to think of a name of this technique :) I think it is slightly similar to my Tie Dye Technique as it also using Dylusions and you end up with a pattern transfer. Only this one is easier! I'm going to explain and show you photos of the process. So here's my step by step...

Shaker Card (1 Background - 2 CAS Cards)

Hello again!

Please hop over HERE to see my first card I made with the same background, but added a different fun element to it ;)

The background I use for this card is the same Tie Dye one used on the first card.. I'll show you the photos here too...

Slider Card (1 Background - 2 CAS Cards)

Warm welcome to my new followers, it's great to have you here! Big hugs to my loyal blog buddies, I will be in touch soon! x

I have two cards to show you today. What they have in common is that they are both made using one background created using my Tie Dye Technique. They are both CAS cards, but both have a different element of fun to them. I will post about them separately though so I can enter them into some challenges too.

This is the background...

How are you all? I'd like to welcome my new lovely followers! So nice to have you nearby! Feel free to get in touch!
My dear blog buddies, I know I have been a bit quiet in the last few days, I will be visiting your blogs soon! I have been super-busy here at home and also made a Christmas card that I can't really show you so... here I am a few days later with an A5 size artwork using my little technique and Tim Holtz's gorgeous dragonfly die that my blog buddy and a friend Donna kindly sent me to try out before I go ahead and buy the die. OMG! I'm in love with the dragonfly die cut! So pretty!

Collaboration with Donna (Artfully Challenged)

I hope you've had a lovely day! I'm sorry for posting so late, I hope you are sitting nicely with a cup of tea in your hand. Don't worry, this is a short post, I just want you to be comfy ;)

I have been lucky to have made a friend through blogging and we have had some fun together! Donna aka Artfully Challenged recently received some of my Tie Dye backgrounds and made a wonderful card with it. Well this time, Donna sent me some of her gorgeous background tags prepped with her fresco paints and some little bits and bobs with them to me so I could have some fun too ;)

Now, to explain, I get all sentimental when a friend gifts me something and tend to treasure it. Well, this is no different so I wanted to make this tag to remind me of Donna without even reading my little note at the back of it so I decided to put it together with items that Donna sent with the backgrounds. That was fun!

CASE-ing with a twist

I hope you enjoyed my first post this morning and are geared up for the 'Recycle It!' challenge!

My craft corner was such a mess after a few crafting sessions and needed a little tidy up. The moment I started organising and going through it all I came across a Sizzix embossing folder that reminded me of the lattice on Anita's card that is being cased over at the TIME OUT CHALLENGES at the moment. The challenge is called CASE it with your own twist so I got my craft supplies together (well, one one pile as they really were all over my kitchen at the time) and got cracking. This is what I came up with...

And just for reference, here's the beautiful card that Anita made:
