Altered Mini Playing Card - week 26

Hello & Happy Sunday!

I hope your weekend is going well?

Before I waffle on about my next altered teeny tiny piece of weekly art I have a question. What are your thoughts regarding leaving replies for your comments? My blog has been up for about 6 months and it has been great! I have made many new friends and interacted with many more which is always enjoyable. I always read and reply to all of them and it is fun, but it does feel pointless sometimes as I don't know if people actually get to read my replies. I know from my own experience I either forget to click 'notify me' or people just don't leave replies. Then when I do click 'notify me' I get the pleasure of getting emails with all other comments which have nothing to do with me. In all of the blog land in the whole 6 months I have found only 1 friend who actively replies to all of her comments. I have come to the conclusion that as much as I enjoy leaving replies to individual comments I am wasting my time a bit and therefore starting to think that I should stop doing it. I usually visit a blogger back if I get a comment anyway and leave a comment there which seems a more sensible option. It;s not that I'm lazy to leave one, I have simply noticed that people don't reply to their own comments and most likely don't get to read my replies. What do you think? Now onto this week's mini playing card.

'Moments' - album covers

Hello!

I have something a little different for you today! I had a craving to make something other than a card so I made a 8" x 8" album covers. I had a pre-cut white chip board pieces here with a couple of rings that were screaming to be altered. I used a few techniques here... triple heat embossing with stamping, creating backgrounds with Big Brush pens, colouring metal embellishments from grungy silver to grungy gold... curious? Then read on...

Blogger reader issues

Dear Friends, Followers, Visitors..!

I have been having issues with my Blogger Reader lately. Some of you might know what I'm talking about as I know there are many affected by this issue. For those of you who are lucky not to have experienced this I shall explain further... I only see one update/blog post in my reader at the time and the 'view more' button simply doesn't work...from all of the blogs that I follow I see only the most recent post that someone has just posted whilst the previous ones disappeared. Even when I click on blogs individually I can only see one of their posts that being the most recent ones. This makes my life difficult as in order to be on top of things I would have to stare at my reader non stop to see if I can spot the posts about challenge announcements, winner announcements, post from my blog buddies' about their new beautiful creations... which is impossible. I simply don't have the time or energy and it would be pure stupid. When I have a moment I go through the blogs that I follow individually and sometimes even visit the blog to see older posts too, but this is so time consuming!! I've been pulling my hair out over this for a number of days now and I'm certain I have missed some amazing stuff out there... I'm nearly bald by now!
So, my dear blog buddies and other lovely crafters out there, I apologise if I have missed anything or didn't comment, didn't see your updates... I'm doing my best to stay on top of it. I really hope that Blogger resolves this issue swiftly. My guess is that some genius changed some settings somewhere and now it's not so easy to put it right! Well, change them back!!!! Thank you!!!

I hope this explains a few things. Thank you for your understanding. Feel free to share your views in the comments below.

Thank you for stopping, have a great day!

Watercolour effect using Big Brush Pens

Hi! Me again! :)

As promised in my earlier post today I also want to show you a card that I have made using my Big Brush pens that have been sitting on a shelf for a while. Great shame, because they are amazing. Earlier on I showed you how to use them to create an artsy background and now I want to share another technique. This time I used them to create a watercolour look and a focal image, using the stunning Petals & Stems stamps by Avery Elle.

Precious - mixed media tag

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a nice weekend? I was really feeling crafty this morning so instead of making one thing I made two! Simon Says Stamp Monday Blog and his talented DTMs have provided an amazing inspiration for this week's 'I ought to use this more!' challenge. If you haven't seen their gorgeous creations then you must visit....aaaah... So I thought to myself...well, what is it that I have been omitting to be creative with lately ? ...and then it hit me... my precious and gorgeous Big Brush pens! I used to use them all the time, but they've been neglected for a while. So I made a card and a tag. I will share the card with you in a separate post so stay tuned, but now onto the tag...

Altered Mini Playing Card - week 25

Hello!

What a great weekend we've had! Our little one turned three this past week so on top of her presies we treated her to an adventure to the local children's zoo and a picnic in the park. Poor little munchkins were so tired at the end of the day and so were we! I underestimated the amount of walking we were going to do and wore really uncomfortable shoes and am still suffering now! We all had a great time though so that's all that matters.

It's time for another one of my little altered playing cards. I can't believe we're pretty much half way through the year already. Where does the time go?!

This little card has a very earthy feel to it. I love the texture, the earthy colours...

Crafty Catz Challenge 'Stitches' - my GDT make

Hello, Crafty friends!

What a busy few days I've had. So much to do, so little time. On top of that it was my elder daughter's 3rd birthday!! She had a great time! She got a few little presies and a big Air filled bouncy castle for the garden so is one happy little girl! We're off to the zoo this weekend too so she will enjoy that I hope. I, on the other hand, would love to climb into bed and sleep for at least 48 straight. I dare to dream! :)

Now onto this week's challenge over at Crafty Catz Challenge Blog... Naomi, the DTM would like you to use 'Stitching' this week. Real or faux stitching, just get creative for your chance to win a fabulous prize...

Hello! Me again!
You guys, I have just realised I haven't shared my altered cards with you! My last one was posted on 1st June! Ooooh, slack! Well, easily corrected, because I did make them, just didn't share them. So, maybe not so slack after all :) If you want to know more about my tiny 2.5" x 1" piece of art then click HERE. I also have an exciting news so read on...!

Altered wooden hearts for my girls

Hello and Happy Father's Day!

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Somehow it doesn't feel like a Sunday to me as my other half and the father of my two little girls is working! That's right, working, on a Sunday and a Father's Day! However, he is at an event that he organised and will be in a VIP room with Prince William, the Duchess, most likely their little one and Prince Harry so I guess it makes up for a lovely Sunday with our little family... I mean how many times in life do you get to be in the same room with the future King of England!! Amazing! I will not lie to you, I wish I was there..! So whilst it is raining and the girls are playing I got to craft! I got to finish my wall heart hangings for the girls.

Father's Day Card

Hello!

It's Friday, two days left before we celebrate the Dads! It is a special day in our home as our first baby was born on a Father's day. I remember being in a hospital and it took 22 long hours, being induced so not being able to eat, sleep or move around, paint etc. Greg said he suffered the most :) ... he had to sleep in the chair in the corner of our room, he had a hair in his lunch... poor guy! :) But in the end it was all worth it, because our little one was born on the evening of a Father's Day so I get a proud reminder of this from him each year (never mind me doing all the work on that day...!).

So here I am with a card for him... very masculine, grungy and artsy, not a pink in sight! :) Check it out...

'Use 2 different dies' challenge - GDT post for Crafty Catz

Hello, Crafty friends!

This is my second week with the Crafty Catz and I'm loving it! The DT are a lovely bunch and they made some fabulous cards for this weeks challenge, don't forget to visit their blogs and leave some love for them (feel free to leave some here too:))! I'm a little late today with my post, because I burnt my whole hand last night and felt sorry for myself - I manage to pour a boiling pasta water all over it whilst trying to drain it - it was all swollen and red so instead of typing my post I spent last night cooling my hand and putting a cream for burns on it. It's not looking as scary now, but it is still red and sore. I have a project to work on though so I will craft on! :)

Now for this week's fun challenge...

You're Beary Special :)

Hello there!

What a glorious day! We were playing outside whilst the baby was having a snooze and I was teaching Isabella how to draw faces, animals, shapes, she wanted me to draw all kinds of fruit etc. We were using a chalk on our patio. It was a nice change from crayons or a paint. It was fun, but I did most of the drawing whilst Bella was bossing me around. In the end I manage to convince her to draw me a cat. And what a brilliant cat that was! She's going to be 3 this month and I really didn't expect that! Loook...!

What If...

Hey!

Another sunny day here in London! Yay to that!

I thought I'd play a bit whilst Bella was playing in the garden and Chloe' in the land of nod. I have been curious to see if my tie dye techniques would work nicely in art journaling. It does. Of course it does, same technique just a bigger piece of cloth. I used an old curtain lining (plain cotton fabric).

Media comparison for My Tie Dye techniques

Hello, Crafters, Friends!

I have written a very long post on how to use a real tie dye technique in cardmaking and art. You can read about it all HERE and even see my first quick card with this design and even a TAG that I made for a challenge. I promised to do a further research on this and post the results and here I am. I hope you find it interesting.

Below you will find photos with descriptions of WHAT medium I used, HOW it was achieved and my likes and dislikes. Here it goes...

Tie dye 'Love' - tag

Hello!

One more post for today, as promised. I shared my two new exciting techniques using the same idea earlier on today. If you didn't get to read it then hop over HERE to read it so you know what I'm talking about. It's way too long to explain again.. swiftly explained, I tie dye my baby wipes and either apply them onto a cardstock to be used on cards or similar or make a transfer of my tie dye design onto a cardstock. Have a read, it's fun!

TECHNIQUE ALERT: Tie Dye for cardmaking, arts & crafts!

Hello, Crafters!

I'm so excited to show you a technique, actually two techniques using the same idea, that I have come up with last night! I had some time to play with it this further this morning and as it is newly discovered there is a lot to perfect. I am however way too excited to wait for the 'perfect' effect so I am going to show you what I have done so far now. I can guarantee fairly inky fingers and a lot of fun! It is sooo easy and it won't cost you a thing! Intrigued? Then read on...

Teenage Boy Birthday Card

Hi!

How's your weekend going? Ours is nice and relaxing so far. I finally got to do a bit of crafting too so I feel satisfied. It's interesting how after a certain age the simplest of things make us happy :)

I needed to make a card for Greg's teenage nephew for his birthday... not an easy task as you can image. The boy is a smart cookie and loves music and plays a number of instruments already so I thought a funky music inspired mixed media card would be appropriate. I started by scribbling with

'Inspired by a song' GDT cards for Crafty Catz

Hello there!

Today is a good day :) Today is the day I get to team up with the lovely Crafty Catz Challenge Blog for the first time!

This week's challenge is 'Inspired by a song' so this should get your creative juices flowing!:)

The sponsor of this challenge is ....

...and the generous prize for the winner of this challenge is...

7 images of winner's choice!

This is amazing! Grab your craft tools and supplies and get crafting! What a fun theme this is as well... the Boogaboo Digi Stamps have a great choice of stamps which would be fun to use on your projects. This is not a must and it doesn't have to be a card either, as long as you follow the theme. One little advice... be aware that if you use written lyrics of a song on your creation you should be prepared to pay the royalties due to the copyright law, but if they are lyrics of a very very old song in a public domain you should be ok. Otherwise get as creative as your heart desires. I can't wait to see your fabulosities! :)

If you are a newbie to my new blog you might like to take a little browse around to see what arty crafty things I make. If you look at my cards you will notice a few things... I like contemporary, bold, bright and simple ish with a bit of grunge and/or glitz. I do not do tons of layers or frills...my brain just doesn't work that way although I do like the look very much. I made not one but two cards with the lovely stamps by Boogaboo for this week's challenge. This is because I am awfully indecisive and I just couldn't pick which one to show you... so you have two ;) More inspiration, bonus! Here they are...

Whimsical Fairy Houses - art journaling

Hello!

I can't believe it's already Wednesday! I'm not looking forward to tomorrow! Chloe' is going to have her third set of immunization jabs done. I can't stand the 'real' cry caused by pain... it absolutely kills me! I will never forget the feeling when I experienced this for the very first time and will never get used to it... aaah...

I decided to do a bit of art journaling today. This time I made a collage using patterned papers, acrylic paints, Gesso, pens etc... The whole idea was to create whimsical fairy tiny houses to compliment my sentiment 'Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.' I think this is self-explanatory, but if I was to explain further I'd say it has a lot to do with believing and faith. Do you believe in fairies? :)

My Memo Station with Docrafts

Hello, Crafters & Friends!

I go shopping on Saturdays (every other really, because I share the pleasure of our weekly shopping with my other half ;)) and first thing I do is to go to the magazine isle to check out all of the crafty magazines. Hands up who else does it!! :) I bought the Docrafts May issue this weekend. I got some pretty wooden letters, papers & these fabulous Chalkboard Speech Bubbles. They are super-cool. Keren Baker created a gorgeous Memo Board and I felt inspired. I've been itching to create my own 'Memo station' for my fridge for a while and now seeing these speech bubbles on pegs there was no stopping me! Check out the photo tutorial below to see what I did:
