March 2018 MMWchallenge is back!

Hey all!

I hope you are as excited as I am to see the Mixed Media World challenge back in action! That's right! We're back and we are going with the flow... Anything Mixed Media Goes (AMMG) challenge is going live on the ***Mixed Media Group*** on Facebook so hop on the check out the fab creations my team made... I am so proud... you get the proud mamma feeling sometimes... well, that's it... right there... You can find the link to the challenge HERE.

The sponsor of this challenge is...

Prize: £20 online voucher to the shop for the winner + a chance to guest design for MMW

I was experimenting with the Pebeo' Mixed Media Discovery kit the other day and absolutely loved the results. So, of course, I added more to the collection and created a couple of lovely acrylic small artworks with these lovely products... It was not without a moment of... 'Oooh, nooooo!!! ...

I had a great fun playing and watching the media mixing... on their own this time... not much effort required, which is currently perfect considering we've all been sick since December 17', and according to the UK systems 'snowed in' so both kids staying at home without schooling (shoot me now!)... I have been busy doing all sorts! So a little bit of free flow fun was just what the doctor ordered.

I mean, just see for yourself... isn't it beautiful...

The fun thing about Pebeo' Discovery kit is that you never know what you're going to discover. Well, I found that adding it to the super-duper That's Crafty! acrylic substrate was the fun bit.. watching the colour mixing, cells forming, moving and watching my crafty companion cat disappearing at the first whiff of the opening of the alkyd-based media bottle...

It all looked lovely until I decided to seal the wonderfulness with the DecoArt Tripple Thick. I applied it with a brush and left it to dry, as you do and came back next morning to a rather wrinkled effect that I did not necessarily desire. Eeeeer..... Ok... I added the second coat thinking it would go away... nope! Same wrinkles, just a tad deeper. Are you kidding me?! Soooo... next time I shall use a resin instead. Lesson learned. And the moral o the story is... No matter how much we think we know, we don't really know much. And without the mistakes, we wouldn't learn to do it the right way. So embrace the imperfection once more.

Regardless, I had great fun making it and sharing this with you and there is no doubt that I will share more of similar art with you soon. Thank you for stopping by! I hope to see you around within the group. Join the fun, enter your own mixed media make and be in it to win it! Good luck!
