Spring Into Action with That’s Crafty!

Hi and welcome back to my little blog! Thank you for stopping by!

Exciting times ahead for those who like to join a challenge or two (or 28!), because the fabulous That’s Crafty! Challenge blog is launching a new challenge today! They are asking us to ‘Spring Into Action’ and create something with spring images. And what’s in it for you? You could win a £30 online voucher! Awesome, right?!

There is more info on their challenges blog so make sure to hop over and check it all out. You will also find heaps of inspiration for the challenge from my lovely teamies.

I decided to make a couple of cards. I had a yearning to play with those lovely Multi Surface paints and wanted to create a fun background for my cards. I wanted to try something a little bit different though. I have been watching plenty of YT videos on acrylic pours and other fun stuff, but I am not going to get into all that right now. I did want some funkylicious psychedelic looking background so I played a bit and came up with this...

It’s easy! Any plastic wrap or sheet will do. I cut the cover from one of my magazines to the size of the card, added small blobs of Magenta, Yellow and White paint onto the plastic here and there, lightly misted with the Sparklers Pale Gold spray and literally flopped it upside down onto the card. Then I lightly pressed and lifted.

Then repeated the lifting part and dabbing. Each time you lift, the paint mixes and creates this marbling effect. It really takes only a few lifts. You don’t want to overdo it so you don’t mix the colours too much. It’s also a good idea to use colours that mix well.

You will end up with something like this...

This would look great as is, but I was going for a more subtle and sophisticated look. I placed the die cut background (Tim Holtz - Mixed Media 2) on top and embellished with gold shiny sentiments and one of the gorgeous butterflies from the Doodled Butterflies and Leaves designed by Melina Dahl. Doesn’t it look gorgeous embossed in gold?! I am yet to explore this stamp set more. It’s one I will be using again and again for sure.

Here are a few images of the cards. I hope you like them...

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading about my artsy explorations and hope out give it a go yourself. Give me a shout on your socials by tagging me (@IngridKristinaV) or leave a comment below. I’d love to see your versions of this technique! I can then share your make as well.

I’ll be back with something new soon! For now, have a blast crafting!
