Layout DT inspiration for Mixed Media World challenge

Hello and Happy Easter!

I hope you are all having a wonderful time! Thank you for taking time to stop by.

The April 2018 challenge is starting today within our Facebook Group ***Mixed Media World*** and we are asking you to have fun and create something Spring inspired. If you don't fancy the challenge and spring is not your thing then fear not. You can still enter any mixed media creation. Well, you have to be in it to win it and we have a wonderful new sponsor! Yeeeaaah! Check it out...

Head over to the main Mixed Media World blog to read more about this month's sponsor and to see what the $25 value prize from Cuts2Luv might look like. Caroline runs a fantastic shop on Etsy and had amazing badges that could add the perfect touch to your projects. I personally am in love and will have to buy some soon! In the meantime, let me share my scrapbook layout I created to inspire you this month. I mean, butterflies, flowers... helloooo... Spring all around! :)

I have braved and created a new scrapbook layout with the Take Me Away collection by Page Evans. Obviously, I added some mixed media goodness to the background and it was fun all around. I also used her sweet butterfly cut file that you can buy in her Etsy store. Now, this is when it becomes complicated. I do not have a cutting machine! Not yet anyway! So I cut it out using my craft knife. Yep! Crazy, I know! But I can be very stubborn and after about three cramps and very achy fingers, it was done! I foiled it using Heidi Swapp Minc gold foil and Minc machine. Sorry about the glare. It is sooo hard to photograph shiny things.

I also fussy cut out the entire sheet of flowers from one of the papers from the pad. I can't say I enjoy fussy cutting, but it went fairly fast and I like to watch YouTube videos whilst crafting to make it more of a joyful process.

I started my layout by backing the white American Crafts cardstock with another 12 x 12" paper from the Take Me Away paper pad, made splatters with a mix of Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick inks by Tim Holtz and Pale Gold Sparklers Spray by That's Crafty! I added the Platinum crackle paste through The Crafter's Workshop stencil and was happy with the background as it was. I wanted to keep this layout quite clean and bright.

I played with some die cut vellum leaves and more of the foil. I simply added a two-way Nuvo glue to the ends and, once tacky, pressed the foil on top. Easy! I layered all the elements, matching ephemera, flowers and a few other bits and bobs as well as the vellum backed butterfly and was done! Here are a few more close ups for you...

I will be adding my journaling later. The photo shows the girls bouncing around a puddle. I know, it's the little things in life :) It was a lovely day out. We drove up to the forest nearby and thoroughly enjoyed the sunny day. The girls were bouncing around and freely ran around. We met may dogs, horses and even found a secret hiding place. It was great fun!

I hope you enjoyed my post today and feeling inspired to create something special. I shall look forward to seeing them all in our group.

Have a lovely day and see you soon!
